Herman Tulp (Zwolle, 1955) is the son of stationer H. Tulp
and is named after his father Herman ('Her').
He was trained at the Minerva Academy in Groningen (1975-1980).
His teachers there were Diederik Kraaijpoel, Wout Muller, and Matthijs Röling.
In addition to his independent work, Herman illustrated in the 1980s and 1990s in collaboration with
Hans Parlevliet under the name T&P Illustrators.
Together they created countless book and CD covers and in 1990
won the prestigious Eppo Doeve Prize, presented to them at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
A self-portrait of Herman wearing headphones can be seen at the Drents Museum.
His work is also included in the collection of Museum Møhlmann
and in numerous private collections.
In 2009, the book "Hermansblauw, Thirty-Eight Years of Painting" was published,
with texts by Henk Meutgeert, Ronald Ohlsen, Rein Pol,
and former director of the Drents Museum, Harry Tupan.
In 2013, the self-published book "Strong Women, Silent Power" was published,
with contributions from Geert Pruiksma and Eric Bos, among others.
